Lovefilm ready for battle as rival Netflix launches in UK
British-based film rental service Lovefilm has reported its first ever profit.
Figures to the end of 2010 show the company made a profit of £6 million after a loss of £22 million in 2009. Turnover at the British operation was up from £79 million to £91 million.

The move into profitability means the company will be well placed to face the competition from its American rival Netflix, which announced this week it is planning to launch in Britain.
Lovefilm, which was bought by Amazon in a £200 million deal earlier this year, http://lostfilm.hd-lostfilm.me said it was close to signing up its two-millionth customer worldwide.
Most of its customers are in Britain.
The company rents DVDs and games by post, but also allows people to view films such as The Three Musketeers online through their computers or games consoles and it is about to launch an online films service for the Xbox.
