Kitchen faucet

If you have a stuck kitchen faucet, you may be tempted to call in a plumber or a landscaper. You would be happy with either of them, and it wouldn't hurt to at least hire one of them to come out and take a look at it. If you want to save money on the bill however, you will probably be better off to try repairing it yourself. This article describes how do you fix a stuck kitchen faucet by yourself. It is not that difficult and most of all it is not very expensive.

disconnect from the main water supply.

The first thing that you need to do when trying to fix your kitchen faucet taps is to disconnect it from the main water supply. Next, use a screwdriver to remove the hose that connects the faucet to the spout. The hose can usually be lifted easily enough with the help of an overhand grip, but if it is stuck on something, you may need to use a flat object as a lever to pull it free. Once the hose is removed, you can move on to untucking the hose itself from its spout.

Make sure you have some distance.

If your faucet is stuck on a wall, you may need to make sure that there is some distance between the spout and the wall. You can get a cheap adjustable spanner to measure the distance and cut it according to the measurement. Then, take some masking tape and cover the gap. Use a steady force to apply the spanner across the gap and make sure it is tight. Once it is snug, it should be fairly easy to push the hose back into the spout.

Make sure it is out of the hole

If your faucet is attached to a floor drain, you will need to remove the hose and make sure it is out of the hole. Then, you will need to work on loosening the bolt that attaches the hose to the drain. It is likely that you will have to deal with a concrete pipe because it was never meant to be hooked to a pipe, so you will have to work on figuring out how to loosen it without damaging the pipe. Keep in mind that you may need to relocate this part if you have to.

If your faucet is attached to a wall or post, you may need to get a ladder and work from the top of the wall outward. You may need to remove the molding at the base of the faucet in order to access the bolt that attaches it to the post. Once you have the bolt, you can tighten it and replace the molding. If you have trouble reaching the bottom of the faucet, you may need to use a pair of pliers to pry the hose out of the drain.

Ensure the water is draining properly.

It is very important to ensure that the water is draining properly and that there is no pressure build up due to any debris that may be trapped in the hose. If you cannot remove the hose from the drain, you may need to purchase some specialty equipment in order to remove all of the debris safely. If you have a bath tub or shower, you should carefully empty the water from it and then take care of the problem. You may not want to call a plumber unless you have damage to the lining or the pipes. If you take a short time to inspect the problem and make sure it is not going to continue, you can save yourself a lot of money by repairing it on your own.
